Hi, my name is Joah Spearman. I am passionate about a lot of things including (in no particular order): being a Black man in America; living in Austin, Texas; being married to a talented artist and musician; being a Godfather to two of my best friends’ children; supporting my friends and family, especially in their creative endeavors and being an up-and-coming musician’s biggest fan; engaging in the community through nonprofit board service, fundraising and volunteering; speaking up about important issues and ideas when others are silent; lending a voice to communities, creatives and entrepreneurs that have been overlooked and underestimated; backing public servants who have an authentic drive to enhance lives and communities; distance running (it’s my therapy, but actual therapy is great too!); traveling the world as a lifelong education; seeing beautiful and powerful stories told as films, plays, musicals and TV shows; reading lots and lots of books and writing lots and lots of essays; and making new friends then introducing them to my old friends…just to name a few.
